Meals

  • How will breakfast and lunch be conducted?
Schools will identify spaces for students to eat while maintaining social distancing. Some students may eat in locations that are not in the cafeteria. Additionally, lunch schedules will be staggered to permit more space between students as they eat. Students will be at least six feet awa from one another at lunch. Each school will communicate specific details.

Will meals be provided to students if they are using a virtual learning plan at home?
We are working with the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) to establish meal service logistics for students when they are using a virtual learning plan at home. We will continue to share more information.

How will lunch be provided in a safe and sanitary way?
If we are coming back the students will eat in the classroom for pre-k to 6th grade. Meals will be packaged and picked up by teachers/aides and handed out via the classroom. The district is currently working on a plan for middle school students but possibly may have students, come to the cafeteria and pick up grab and go options, using face coverings and observing social distancing. High School students will come to the cafeteria -- with social distance and wearing face coverings -- for food options packaged for them that they can choose.

Food service staff will wear face coverings. Chartwells wiil do temperature checks and screenings in the morning upon arrival for their shift. They will do both the Webster and Chartwells daily screening assessment.

Will lunch be available for students in any of the leaning formats offered?
    Yes.
