Reading and Writing Interventions
Reading Recovery is a short-term intervention of one-to-one teaching for first grade students. Students receive a daily half-hour lesson for 12-20 weeks. As soon as students meet grade level expectations and demonstrate that they can continue to work independently in the classroom, their lessons are discontinued.
Leveled Literacy Intervention/ Guided Reading
The LLI is a powerful, short-term intervention, that provides daily intensive small group instruction, which supplements classroom literacy teaching.
Interactive writing is a cooperative opportunity in which the teacher and children jointly compose and write text. Not only do they share the decision about what they are going to write, they also share the duties of scribe. The teacher uses the session to model reading and writing strategies as he or she engages children in creating text.
